3.1/5

If you’re into sweepstakes casinos but haven’t heard of Scrooge, you’re definitely missing a trick. In this Scrooge review, I’ll explain why.

Founded in 2023, this US-based sweepstakes casino hasn’t been around long, but is already punching well above its weight. How? Well, Scrooge is offering a seriously generous virtual currency bonus to new players in the US, for starters. They’re also advertising a whole bunch of different games from leading software houses like Hacksaw Gaming.

What kind of bonus can you claim?

Scrooge Casino sign-up bonus

If you’re new to Scrooge sweepstakes casino, you’re in for a treat. When I signed up here, I was automatically granted a double-barrelled bonus. And I mean automatically, too – I didn’t do diddly squat; it just appeared in my account after I registered.

Here’s what you can expect:

Type of bonusNoteworthy T&Cs
2 million Gold Coins (GC)GC have no cash value and they cannot be redeemed or exchanged.
You can buy more GC if you run out – but purchases are not necessary to play here.
250 free Sweeps Tokens (ST)ST also have no cash value, but ST winnings can be redeemed for cash prizes.
You’ll need to play through your bonus ST at least once before you can redeem them.

How does Scrooge work in the US? Is it available in every state?

Because this is a sweepstakes casino, Scrooge games can only be played with two virtual currencies: Gold Coins and Sweeps Tokens – there are no Scrooge real money gaming options available. At the time of writing, you can register for an account and claim the bonus mentioned above from 46 US states. The table below lists which regions have received the green-light.

How do you sign-up with Scrooge?

3.1/5

Creating an account shouldn’t take you any more than two minutes. I don’t mean to brag, but I managed it in less than one and a half. All you need to do, is:

  1. Head to the Scrooge website.
  2. Wait to be greeted by Scrooge McDuck – the brand’s mascot – then click through to register.
  3. Enter some basic information, including proof of your age and US state.
  4. Click “Submit”, wait to be approved, and automatically receive your bonus when you login.

What products, markets and features are offered?

3.1/5

Although Scrooge is a sweepstakes casino where you can play for free, there is no compromise when it comes to the quality of its games library. Here’s what you can expect to find:

Game typeWhat to expect
Sweepstakes casino slotsA mix of old-school classics and new video slots powered by SlotMill and KA Gaming.
Table gamesState of the art video poker and 3D roulette - and a whole lot more.
Casual gamesAnything from fish games powered by Fantasma, to keno and high-volatility slots tournaments.

Of course, all games are powered by either GC or ST.

How does the site fare on mobile devices?

Whether you’re playing Scrooge’s 150+ games from a Windows computer, a Google Pixel phone or the latest iPad, your user experience will be exactly the same as the next guy’s.

This is because the brand hasn’t gone out of its way to launch any dedicated apps – Scrooge sweepstakes casino simply offers a one-size-fits-all website that’s been mobile-optimized from the back end. It’s a breeze to use, and I for one was grateful for the opportunity to be able to play top-quality games from Relax Gaming and KA Gaming without having to wait around for downloads to complete first.

How do GC purchases and ST redemptions work?

3.2/5

Now’s the time for my Scrooge review to make a few distinctions between Scrooge – a sweepstakes casino – and conventional, “real money” platforms.

As I said previously, there are no USD-powered games here. Anything you play will be powered by either GC or ST. I also mentioned earlier that no purchase is necessary to play here, but that said, you can purchase additional GCs in packages to bump up your balance if you want to.

GC purchase options

To buy some GC, you’ll need to head to the brand’s “Purchase Center” and browse the various bundles on offer. These start from $5 for 500,000 GC, which comes in tandem with a free 500 ST bonus. The packages then go all the way up to $250, which will land you 25 million GC and a 25,000 ST bonus. It’s top Scrooge ratings from me then. Why? Well, this “bonus every time” attitude shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Visa, MasterCard, and Amex are all available as payment options, as are Discover and BNB. Transactions are processed immediately and no fees are charged – though purchases, as I said before, are never mandatory to continue playing at SCrooge

ST redemptions

Keen to redeem your ST winnings for real-world prizes? Good news – the process is just as simple. I tried it out for myself while writing my Scrooge reviews and found that any ST awarded via bonuses had a 1x playthrough requirement.

From there on, ST winnings can be redeemed for cash prizes at a rate of 1 ST = 0.01 USD, though you’ll need to have stacked up at least 10,000 ST in your Scrooge account before you’ll be eligible to request a redemption. You’ll also need to upload some ID and proof of address evidence on your first attempt.

Does Scrooge offer decent customer support? My Scrooge ratings certainly think so…

3.0/5

If ever you run into trouble redeeming your ST or navigating the site, guess what? You can reach out to Scrooge’s support network on Facebook or X to get fast answers.

There’s also an email support service, which you can hit-up at info@scrooge.casino. Having said that, I’d suggest sticking to FB Messenger or X chat if you’re in a rush, because I often found that my own email requests weren’t responded to massively fast – most of the time, it took the brand about a day to reply. Using FB Messenger instead should see you get an answer from a human within 1-3 hours.

What about online safety? Well, Scrooge is legit, SSL-secure, and more

2.9/5

With all Scrooge games being played using virtual currencies, and the fact the brand has a “no purchase necessary” in place, Scrooge has “sweepstakes casino” status – which in a nutshell means you don’t have to worry so much about whether the platform holds a state-issued license.

Having said that, I probed the operator’s T&Cs as part of my Scrooge ratings, and found that the brand’s own customer acceptance policies forbid you from registering and playing if you’re based in:

  • Washington.
  • Arizona.
  • Michigan.
  • Idaho.

In all of the other 46 states, you’re 100% green-lit. And you can rest assured that any confidential data you hand over is properly SSL-encrypted, too.

Is Scrooge a scam? Undoubtedly not. They even use state-of-the-art Random Number Generators (RNGs) behind the scenes of their games – most of which hail from big names like Relax Gaming.

Does Scrooge offer a loyalty program?

3.0/5

Sadly, I didn’t uncover any evidence of an existing VIP club here at the time of writing. I have to admit this disappointed me somewhat, though there are a fair few rumors circulating on Reddit that a loyalty scheme might be in the making.

For now, you guys will have to make do with the brand’s daily reload bonus, which automatically awards you free GC and ST each time you log in. Simultaneously, you can also spin a wheel-of-fortune-inspired bonus dispenser on the “Spin the Wheel” page, which will land you a randomized bonus each time.

Is the platform easy-to-use? Here’s my Scrooge rating

3.1/5

I found Scrooge has a familiar feel about it, with the interface displaying rows of thumbnail game graphics – a common practice among sweepstakes casinos.

The first time you visit the site, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with the rather menacing Scrooge McDuck mascot, but after claiming your bonus and navigating through to the homepage, you’ll be greeted by a sleek, red-and-gold-on-black design that’s relatively hassle-free to navigate.

In terms of special features, there are a ton of sweepstakes casino chat rooms for you to get involved with. I also found the homepage search bar super-handy, as it helps you pin-down specific games in seconds. If you were hoping for game filters directly on the landing page, though, you might wind up a tad disappointed. You can’t, for example, filter games by software provider – which is a shame, but definitely no deal-breaker.

What games did my Scrooge review find?

If you’re into high-quality gaming brands – and let’s face it, who isn’t? – you’ll be delighted by the Scrooge game portfolio, I’m sure.

Most of the slots on their books have been designed by SlotMill and KA Gaming, while tables and video poker titles here come from producers like Hacksaw Gaming and Relax Gaming. It’s big brands all round, basically, and the portfolio is beautifully balanced, too.

Instead of offering all-out slots, you’ll be able to play keno, 3D Roulette and even high-volatility fish games here. Shark Frenzy is especially ferocious by the way. It’s top Scrooge ratings from me here.

How do you use GC and ST?

I’ve been through this a fair bit already, so I won’t drone on too much here. Basically, GC are “play-for-fun” coins, which are best thought of as practice tokens in my view.

As for ST, these up the ante a bit. You use them to play games and any winnings you make become eligible for redemption. You will need to collect 10,000 or more of them first though.

A quick word of warning, though – prize redemption limits vary state-by-state, with players in Florida and New York capped at redeeming a maximum of $5,000 worth of ST per day, but the limit is double that in all other states. Quick reminder: every 1 ST has a $0.01 USD redemption value.

Scrooge review summary – sink your teeth into truly state-of-the-art games

It seems to me as if Scrooge has miraculously sourced all its games from the hottest developers in the biz – and I’m totally here for it.

Combine that game selection with the brand’s 2 million GC + 250 ST bonus, and you’re looking at hours of relentless fun here, believe me. Here’s to hoping they add a VIP program to the mix soon.

Final conclusion – Scrooge is reliable, easy-to-use and awesome for first-time players

From where I’m standing Scrooge is a phenomenal place to play if you’re a new customer – because that 2 million GC + 250 ST bonus is difficult to match elsewhere in the sweepstakes casino market.

Having said that, I feel there’s a slim chance longer-term gamers might find the lack of a loyalty program a bit of a hindrance here.

Though to be fair, there are 150+ different games from major software brands to sink your teeth into and the brand has definitely got your back in the customer service and online safety departments, too – meaning there are many more pros than cons overall.

Scrooge review FAQ

🧐 When will the Scrooge VIP program launch?

To be honest, it’s all a bit of a mystery. Some Scrooge reviews suggest the scheme is a work-in-progress, while others insist there isn’t one at all – and the brand hasn’t made any official announcements as of the time of writing. There are some other great bonuses you can check out in the meantime though.

👀 Is Scrooge licensed in Arizona?

Sadly, the site’s a no-go in AZ, MI, ID, and WA. You can play from anywhere else in the US, though – or you can read my reviews to discover awesome sweepstakes casino alternatives.

❓ Does the Scrooge bonus have any game restrictions?

As far as I’m aware, no. You can play your bonus GC and/or ST on any of the operator’s 150+ games. Read my Scrooge review to get better acquainted with some of my current favorites. The daily reload bonus is also unmissable to be fair.
