Profit Boosts and Bonus Bets Provide the Perfect Welcome
While LeoVegas is trying to compete with other more established sportsbooks, when carrying out this LeoVegas sports review, we found they like to go about things differently. This is no more apparent than with the LeoVegas bonus packages, available at the UK, Canada, and New Zealand sportsbooks.
Bonus Region | Details |
---|---|
UK | 100% Boost on Bet Profit |
Canada | 100% Deposit Match + Bonus Bet |
New Zealand | 100% Matched Free Bet up to $200 NZD |
The UK welcome bonus is very different from anything else you will see from UK sportsbooks, so it has to be judged on its own merits rather than compared to any other offer. It is claimed simply by making a deposit of at least £10, and the profit of your next bet is increased by 100% up to a maximum of £100. This is straightforward and works for all smaller deposit sizes, so it gets the thumbs up from us.
The Canadian welcome bonus is also different from what you will see at other Canadian sportsbooks and involves you wagering your initial deposit 10x to receive a 100% match credited to your account as cash and a bonus bet as well. Beginning March 28th 2024, new players joining LeoVegas in Canada (excluding Ontario) will be treated to enhanced Welcome Offer up to $1,000 plus 100 Free Spins on Gates of Olympus and the Sports Welcome Offer launches on April 11th – Up to $50 in Free Bets.
Users in New Zealand have the chance to pick up a 100% Matched Free Bet up to $200 NZD when they sign-up to LeoVegas. So long as new users activate the bonus within 14 days of signing up, and place a qualifying bet of odds 1.80 or higher within 30 days, they will be credited a bonus bet up to the value of $200 NZD once the qualifying bet settles. The bonus bet will then need to be placed within 30 days with odds of 1.80 or higher.
Getting Started Is Easy at LeoVegas
Before you can claim your welcome bonus, you still need to sign up first, and this can be done in just a few simple steps:
- Click the green sign-up button.
- Enter your email address and choose a password to create your account.
- On the next screen, add your name, date of birth, telephone number, and address, as well as select a weekly deposit limit if you want one.
- Set your marketing preferences and agree to the terms and conditions.
You can now make a deposit and claim your bonus if you wish, just remember that you’ll eventually have to verify your account for full account functionality.
LeoVegas Get the Betting Basics Right
From looking at other LeoVegas reviews, it would be easy to think that LeoVegas falls short in several areas. In reality, that’s not correct at all, as our review found that they have all the basics there for most bettors to get started easily, even if it is a bit lacking in bells and whistles:

An All-In-One Mobile Solution for LeoVegas Bettors
With most betting activity taking place using mobile devices, this part of our LeoVegas sports review is dedicated to the mobile experience. LeoVegas has made it easy by creating dedicated apps for both Android and iOS, available from the official app stores.
The app also contains all of the casino functions, so we were worried it might be a little crowded, but like the desktop site the sportsbook functions are segregated. Similar to using the desktop site, although different in execution, the icons at the top of the smaller screen navigate you to major sports. Clicking these will open up available markets easily, so you are never more than a few presses away from placing your bet.
Top right and your account dashboard are where you need to go for funding your account or requesting a withdrawal in a matter of a few presses. The FAQs are still reachable at the bottom of the screen, so you can get answers there even on the move.

Plenty of Transaction Options for UK And Canadian Bettors Discovered in our LeoVegas Review
Another key feature of a good sportsbook is flexibility when it comes to payment methods, and while the number of payment options as LeoVegas is not huge, it should satisfy the vast majority of bettors on both sides of the Atlantic. The best part is LeoVegas charges zero transaction fees.
Method | Min Deposit | Max Deposit | Deposit Time | Min Withdrawal | Max Withdrawal | Withdrawal Time |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Debit Cards | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
Online banking | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
PayPal | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
ApplePay | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
MuchBetter (CA only) | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
Credit cards (CA only) | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
Interac Online (CA only) | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
NeoSurf (CA only) | £10/$10 | £3000 | Instant | £10/$10 | £10000 | Up to 5 days |
As you can see, they have opted for payment methods with all but instant deposits, but we were also expecting to see more eWallets options like Neteller and Skrill. Also, we would have liked a little more detail on withdrawal times, as even consulting customer support gave us the answer of “up to 5 days” for all methods, “although it is usually much quicker”. It is also worth noting that some credit cards, even in Canada, can be refused, or withdrawals won’t be possible.
Multiple Channels of Fast Helpful Support
We were pleased to find that the help section at LeoVegas was not dominated by the casino section and that betting on sports has its own little niche. That said, most of the queries regarding payment methods will be universal for both, so they have all of the bases covered.
Should your query rest outside the many subjects covered in the help centre, there is live chat to use as a first stop. In our live test, we spoke to Adam, who had an answer for us within a minute over live chat.
Email is available for longer or more complicated queries. There are separate email addresses depending on which country you are accessing the site from:
- For Canadian bettors: support-ca@leovegas.com
- For UK bettors: support-gb@leovegas.com
- For New Zealand bettors: support-nz@leovegas.com
Proper Licensing at LeoVegas
It’s also important to know you can trust the sportsbook you are looking at, and we can report that you should have no concerns about LeoVegas sports. They are fully licensed in the UK under licence number 039198-R-319450-027 and by the MGA for Canada, holding the corporate group licence number MGA/CRP/237/2013.
As with most other sportsbooks, SSL encryption is in place to keep everything private and secure, and also, like other sportsbooks, the registration process keeps those who should not be playing at LeoVegas out. You will also see responsible gambling resources available on every page, as well as the ability to set limits yourself.
Smaller Promotions Available for Regular Bettors
We were expecting to see a loyalty program while carrying out this LeoVegas review and were surprised to find that there wasn’t one in place. Our conversation with Adam over live chat confirmed this, but we did find some other promotions in place, although these were mostly confined to the ‘My Offers’ section and will vary for each person. They will most likely involve bonus bets. However, we are sad to report that these do not stack up well with what you can find at other betting sites, and hopefully you’ll see newer worthy promotions when you sign up.
Some Work To Be Done On Usability
While promos are a clear weakness for LeoVegas sports, we found the layout of the main site is also in need of work. The simple black-on-white text and icons clearly define the sports and markets, but aren’t exactly exciting. For the more obscure sports, you might need to use the search bar initially, but you can then add these to the ‘My Favourites’ section of your screen.
Other basic operations are also possible, with your balance permanently displayed in the top right-hand corner, where a click gives you options to deposit and withdraw. You’ll also find a click on the hamburger menu top left opens up all of the other settings to manage your accounts, including changing your password and even closing your account.
However, even taking those positives into account it is lacklustre in comparison to what is seen elsewhere, with a lack of sidebars and general organisation making the betting process more ponderous than it needs to be. LeoVegas would do well to competitor sites to see how they could improve, as they currently lag some distance behind.
LeoVegas Sports Betting
A Wide Selection for Bettors Old and New

We were a bit concerned, as most of the focus at LeoVegas seemed to be on the casino, that there would only be a token number of sports covered. Instead, we found not only soccer, football, and basketball covered but also surfing and chess among the 34 sports covered. Soccer bettors would see a full range of markets, both for outrights and more than 20 options for in-game wagers like total goals and correct score. This is mimicked across many of the other major sports as well.
Industry Odds Available, but No Odds Boosts
Another area we thought might slip was the odds offered to bettors. Again, we were proved wrong by our spot tests, which found the same prices at other sportsbooks – where, for example, both LeoVegas and Ladbrokes have Crystal Palace at 10/1 to beat Arsenal in the EPL. These odds can be displayed in decimal, fractional, or American formats, and you can pick your favourite settings from the options in your account dashboard.
One area where LeoVegas could up their game is by providing enhanced odds boosts. They don’t currently offer any promotional odds, something that would contribute to their reputation significantly.
No Shortage of Live Betting Markets
LeoVegas takes live betting seriously, with the in-play events displaying as the default view when you arrive. All of the markets you will have seen pre-event will be available live with the simple betting process, making placing those bets a trouble-free process and also giving you access to the cash out option as well as the bet builder to construct your in-play accas more effectively.
On the other hand, we could see no evidence of live streaming, but there is a graphical representation of the action displayed so that you can make an informed choice. This is backed with plenty of stats, so you can still spot factors like changes in momentum.
Non-Specific Bet Limits at LeoVegas
We also found no evidence of maximum bet limits anywhere, so we asked for support for some clarification. They told us that this would depend on the market and the type of bet that was being placed and that these changed from time to time.
So, the only way to see if you would exceed their maximum bet limit is to place a wager and see if it was accepted. If it is deemed too great, it would be declined, and the maximum stake would be advised for that specific bet. The same rule applies towards maximum payouts per sport, as a conversation with a LeoVegas representative found that these were also variable. Thus, full transparency on maximum winnings is not offered by the bookie, however if you’re a casual bettor, you’ll likely do fine at LeoVegas’s discretion.
A Good All-Round Experience at LeoVegas
While LeoVegas sports does have some areas to brush up on, it provides almost everything that a bettor would need, although those with specific requirements for more niche sports or markets might need to look elsewhere. For the vast majority of bettors, however, LeoVegas provides a simple and straightforward route to the world of sports betting with odds that match other sportsbooks and live betting that has standard tools to help you. Your payouts will ultimately depend on the limits placed by their bookie staff, but overall, we found this a pleasant experience and one that we feel you should take a closer look at.
A Good Experience Awaits You at LeoVegas Sports
All of this together adds up to a broadly positive experience. The welcome bonus is different but well worth the effort, though navigation on the desktop site needs some work. This might deter some bettors but even with this failing you don’t need to be an expert bettor to find your way around. Should you falter, the support is fast and friendly. We conclude this review by saying that if LeoVegas pays a little more attention to site design and offers better rewards for loyal users, then they would be a force to be reckoned with.
